Christopher Cooper Crooby

Overview

Christopher Cooper Crooby is a young Xaverion guard stationed at the watchtower in Three Point Trading Post in Meriquy. Despite his formal tone and uniform, he shows a rare combination of decency and pragmatism—trying to keep order in a place where power often speaks louder than truth.

Quick Facts

Name Christopher Cooper Crooby
Species Human
Role Watchtower Guard
Affiliation Xaverion Watchtower
Status Alive
First Appearance The Outcasts — Chapter Six

Appearance & Manner

Christopher looks boyish in his armour, but he tries to compensate with posture and procedure—squaring his shoulders, speaking carefully, and handling paperwork like it is the only shield he is allowed. When he relaxes, it shows in small ways: a quieter voice, a brief look of relief, a gentle smile that feels more human than official.

Personality

  • Fair-minded: listens before judging, even when pressured by status and reputation.
  • Pragmatic: knows what battles he can win, and which ones will get buried by influence.
  • Quietly brave: risks showing dissent in the only safe way he has—by bending the system toward something honest.

Role in the Story

Christopher receives an arrest request for Suraia, Vasha, and Thorn after Aelric Harren Vale reframes the alley confrontation as an assault. Instead of blindly enforcing it, Christopher admits he does not believe Aelric and asks for their side of the story. Recognising that the watchtower has more urgent concerns than noble tantrums, he offers a lawful workaround: a paid, public contract to investigate the real trouble in the forest—making the Outcasts “official” enough that questions become harder to weaponise.

Known Associates

  • Aelric Harren Vale — the instigator whose influence forces Christopher into damage control.
  • Suraia Silverbell — the healer targeted by the arrest request.
  • Vasha — named in the arrest request and present during the watchtower meeting.
  • Thorn — the one Christopher trusts to address the forest threat, despite the fear he inspires.
