- Season: Spring
- Occurs During: Festival of Blossoms
- Host: House Galahan

- Status: First of the Four Major Noble Balls
Overview
The Ball of the Fox and the Hunter is held annually on Luna Noent Thoron during the Festival of Blossoms.
Hosted by House Galahan, it is regarded as one of the most prestigious invitations within the noble circles
of the Xaverion Islands.
Founded twenty-two years ago by Lord Galahan following the adoption of the new calendar and the Four Great
Festivals, the ball was inspired by the playful courtship and trust within his marriage. After Lady Galahan’s
passing, the tradition continued, becoming a symbol of renewal and remembrance.
The Hunt

The first principal event of the evening is known simply as the Hunt.
Guests may choose to enter as either a Fox or a Hunter.
- Fox: Receives a decorative fox tail to bind loosely around the wrist.
- Hunter: Receives a feather to wear in the hair or on a hat.
There must be equal numbers of foxes and hunters. If sign-ups are uneven,
voluntary role changes are requested to restore balance.
Participation is not mandatory. While especially popular among the unwed,
married couples often participate as well.
Hunting Grounds
The hunt takes place throughout the publicly accessible areas of the estate,
most commonly the gardens, ballroom, dining room, and main hallways.
Foxes are given a head start to hide before the hunters are released.
A fox is considered captured when a hunter succeeds in seizing the fox tail.
Each hunter must capture one fox.
The captured fox becomes that hunter’s partner for the first dance.
The Ball
After dinner, the formal ball begins with the traditional Dance of the Fox and the Hunter,
performed between each hunter and the fox they captured during the hunt.
Following this opening dance, guests are free to dance with whomever they choose.
