Night Dwellers

Origins & Mythology

Night Dwellers originated through the blessings of Denday, the goddess of the night, who granted them adaptations to survive and flourish during the night or in deep darkness. Their transformation affected skin, hair, and eyes, as well as granting them the gift of night vision. Over time, as Denday’s blessing faded from the world, the few remaining Night Dwellers found their night vision had become a liability, making them sensitive to light and driving them further into the shadows.

  • Skin: Either very dark or very pale
  • Hair: Shades from white to black or other dark colors; rarely blonde, brown, or red
  • Eyes: Typically white, very dark, or soft pastels; often appear to glow in the dark (night vision side effect)
  • Vision: Night vision, but often hypersensitive to sunlight

Culture & Society

• Habitat: Deep forests, caves, or other places of perpetual darkness. Colonies may exist for almost every race, though they are well hidden.
• Social Structure: Withdrawn and secretive, often living in isolated groups or colonies. Highly skeptical of outsiders.
• Traditions: Survival and secrecy are valued. Distrust of non–Night Dwellers is common due to long histories of persecution.
• Economy: Varies by group and location; little is known due to their secrecy.

• Multiracial: Night Dwellers can originate from nearly any race on Eonil, though their physical features will be changed by Denday’s blessing.
