Waygates

Waygates

The Waygates are mystical portals constructed across Eonil, created by the Ee’dornil with the help of dragons after their return to the Islands. Built in recent decades, the waygates have ushered in an era of unprecedented travel, peace, and prosperity throughout the Age of Light.

Origins

The waygates were first constructed when the Ee’dornil, as representatives of Eonil and her faith, were welcomed by Quintra. With her blessing, and with the ancient dragons’ guidance, the art of waygate-building spread across the world. The dragons generously shared the secrets of their use, allowing all who wished to learn to make use of this network.

Function and Use

Waygates enable instant travel between distant locations across Eonil. Anyone with the proper knowledge can activate a waygate, and those who dedicate themselves to understanding and maintaining the gates are known as Waykeepers. Thanks to the openness of dragonkind, this knowledge is widely available to any who seek it.

Notable Locations

One of the most famous waygates stands at the base of the great tree Eedrasil, the Lifetree of Eonil. Waygates have been constructed on every continent, linking distant cities and cultures, and making trade and diplomacy easier than ever before.

Era of Peace

The advent of the waygates is credited with bringing about the Age of Light’s unprecedented peace and prosperity. Travel between lands is now swift and safe, fostering greater understanding and cooperation among all peoples of Eonil.

Current Events & Mysteries

While the waygates remain a cornerstone of life in Eonil, there are occasional rumors of gates falling into disuse or strange malfunctions in remote places. Most dismiss these tales as mere superstition or temporary setbacks. For now, the waygates continue to serve as a symbol of unity and hope for all.
