Dawn of the Vampire
Event of the Fourth Era, early Age of Darkness
Not three cycles after Quintra’s banishment, a terror unlike any before arose. One night, an entire village was found slaughtered — every inhabitant torn apart and drained of blood. Within days, more villages in the same region suffered the same fate.
Whispers spread of a creature that hunted only beneath Ghor’s red moon. By night it was unstoppable: swift, impossibly strong, and insatiably hungry. By day it could not be found, for vampires cannot endure the sun. The people believed it hid in caves, ruins, or deep forests, waiting for nightfall to return.
For two Ghor cycles the horror raged. Families fled, towns became ghostly and abandoned, and those who survived locked themselves indoors when dusk fell. Then, without reason, the attacks ceased. The vampire vanished, leaving only silence — and fear.
The memory endured. Generations passed down warnings:
“Do not walk alone after dark. Do not wander the woods. When the red moon rises, beware — for the vampire may hunt again.”
