Role in the Story

During the alley confrontation, Aelric orders Jory to block Suraia from reaching Vasha. Jory obeys—pale, trembling, clearly terrified—then bolts with the sack of gold when chaos erupts.

  • Jory’s fear is obvious; he does not behave like someone eager for violence.
  • His flight with the gold may matter later, depending on who he reports to—or what Aelric blames on him.
