Race Languages

Overview

During the Age of Darkness, growing mistrust among the races of Eonil led to a shift in how communities communicated. Many races began to seek privacy in their conversations, developing ways to speak with their own kind without others understanding.

Evolution from Dialect to Language

As races began to settle in more homogenous communities rather than mixed-race cities, the common language started to fragment. Distinct dialects arose within each race, and over the years, these dialects gradually evolved into fully separate languages.

Present-Day Race Languages

Today, each race in Eonil has its own language—both spoken and written—distinct from the original common tongue. These are commonly referred to as the Human, Elf, Halfling, Gnome, and Dwarf languages. What began as simple dialects are now regarded as complete languages unique to each race.

In Summary

Race languages emerged from the need for privacy and growing cultural separation. They now stand as a testament to the unique identities and histories of Eonil’s peoples.
