The frozen lake of Lokta’Mar
Gondrey Peaks was a flourishing island with lush forests, a large mystical lake and beautiful mountain ranges where the dwarves choose to build their mighty city and settle. They were one with nature, delving deep into the mountain to dig up the rarest gems. But their they stumbled upon a very rare metal, or so they thought.
When trying to mine the ore they discovered it was a creature and they awoke it from its slumber. With a core that was frozen, the black heart of the rock giant was clearly visible and clearly corrupted. As it arose and lay waste to the city. The dwarves tried to defend their city but when they damaged the frozen core the rock giant transformed into a frost giant and froze everything it touched. It destroyed the city and few dwarves managed to escape to call for aid.
Among those who answered the call for help was Garandar, a dwarven warrior who had a large following. He had many victories over Ghor minions already and he gathered a small army to rid the island of this threat before it frozen the entire island.
Lokta’Mar was a large enough to trap the Frost giant in and so they set a trap for it, evacuating the island as a precaution if their plan would fail. The army managed to lure the giant to the lake and engage it there as it froze itself stuck in the lake. There Garandar was able to cut a way to the Frost giant’s core and cut out it’s black heart and destroy it.
Sadly as a result energy surged the entire island, first unfreezing everything and then turning the entire island into a frozen wasteland within the hour. Garandar and his entire army got stuck under the water of the lake and are said to still be frozen there to this day, along with the shattered heart of the frost giant. Legend says that if anyone is foolish enough to disturb the frost giant’s remains they can awaken it and so Garandar and his entire army are still frozen in the lake as well.
