The Undead in Naquart
The Undead in Naquart
On Maveeday in the cycle of Arilya in the season of Envylon in the year 5 the first reports of Ghoul activity starting coming in. At first it seemed like small isolated incidents, nothing the Paladins of the new Faiths couldn’t handle. Some areas of Naquart seemed to be getting more attacks then others and some groups began organizing even better. One such group was the Crimson Order, founded on Twillday in the Cycle of Noent in the season of Thoron in the year 6. The Crimson Order was a religious group of Thoron supporters, they gained followers by visiting villages that were attacked by the undead and offering protection.
After the War of the islands broke out things seemed to quickly get worse. Where there first were one or two Ghoul attacks every now and then now groups of Undead started attacking villages. Most fighters were out fighting in the war and most Paladins and Priests of the new faiths retreated back to the landing of the gods island leaving the citizens of Naquart to fend for themselves.
By the second half of the year 8 groups of Undead would be soon nearly daily and more and more villages were attacked. One famous incident that was seen as the start of the turning point was when the village of Elderbrook was burned down overnight. It was said there was a large Undead attack on the village and a fire broke out in one of the farms spreading all over town. There were no survivors.
One Ghor cycle later the peace treaty of the War of the Islands was signed and efforts to stop the spread of the Undead seriously started at this point. Many different people from many different races helped in this effort and eventually with the help of Veil mages and the Paladins and Priests of the New Faiths the treat was ended.
